[SEMIOPEN LOG] EXPEDITION 2, ALL TEAMS

Semi-open log for the second expedition, Team 1 (Mizuki-Yukimura-Oshitari K) and Team 2 (Marui-Tooyama-Kikumaru-Ibu). 

 

How this works: only characters involved in this event can tag in this log.

Pre-Expedition Events (Opens Aug 6, lasts till Aug 8 or until everyone gets tired of it): Training and Packing. These events will involve only training/supply personnel (e.g. Medical for First Aid, Engineering for equipment, Logistics for requisitions, Tachibana for rations etc) and the personnel going on the mission. 

Expedition: (Opens Aug 9 and lasts till Aug 23, or until everyone gets tired of it): Set up categories/threads as needed, for example :Camping, Digging, More Digging. Other characters can also tag eg if someone makes a comm call, but make sure you ask/inform that person first, and this should not take up significant portions of the log. As always, ask in the Discord if you have any questions.

Subterranean scanners, worm radar, and drones? No problem. Marui picked up on all of it with no problem, lending evidence to his self-proclaimed title of 'genius'-- and continuing his pattern of only using his smarts for frivolous things, he was now using it to do flips with one of Niou's precious drones.

Niou sat, checking through the list of competencies that they needed to work all of the expedition members through before they left. And Marui was doing... very well - he'd make sure to show that to Sanada.

"If you break it, I'll use it to fly your corpse up to the top of the tower," Niou said, glancing at Marui playing with teh drone. "You don't need any drones for this trip anyway."

Now, Mizuki wasn't any sort of technological genius, but he did keep abreast of the latest developments. Trying to operate said developments was a little more difficult, but so far, manageable. He was more concerned about carting all of the equipment up a mountain, in addition to their food and water.

Kenya, on the other hand, was having a little bit of difficulty with understanding the technology. Bodies, he understood! He gave Mizuki a worried look as he messed up yet again. "...You'll be able to do this part, right? I can do the heavy lifting!"

Shuttle flight to "basecamp" at the foothills of the mountain range.

Tooyama came screaming into the shuttle bay, gloves in one hand, mangled box of bandaids in the other. "I'M HERE DONT LEAVE WITHOUT ME!!!"

There may have also been glass in his hair and some cuts but all fine.

It was nice that the two teams would get to ride the shuttle together, because having a few friends on the way over was a comforting thought. At least, until he spotted Kin-chan running in with glass in his hair and cuts. "Kin-chan, what happened??" The minute Kin was in range, Kenya was taking the box from him and covering him in band-aids.

Eiji finished running through his very official pre-departure shuttle pilot checklist and patted the dashboard of the shuttle fondly. "Let's have a fun ride, okay Calpurnia~" He hopped out of the pilot's seat hearing the familiar sound of Tooyama yelling somewhere in the shuttle bay. He peered out of the bay doors to see the skirt Oshitari being dragged around by Tooyama and shrugged. It was probably a cunning plan to tire Tooyama out so he could nap on the trip!

"Oh dear," sighed Mizuki, from where he was already seated. "Is Tooyama-kun all right? They're making quite a ruckus."

EXPEDITION: TEAM 1 PART 1

Mountain climbing, dealing with the elements, tripping over rocks...

Luckily, the comms tower has been (precariously) lowered in pieces onto a relatively flat halfway point.

Unfortunately, it was too windy and dangerous to drop personnel, so the team will have to make their way there and carry the equipment all the way up the mountain.

Expect an... event... about halfway through the expedition.

Mizuki shifted his pack and looked up the looming expanse of rock with dread. How long would it take to scale this mountain?! The footing was precarious, and there were no trails, so they had to pick their way carefully through the rocks. They would probably need to do a fair bit of rock climbing too, depending on their luck. It was only the beginning of the expedition, and Mizuki was already feeling exhausted.

Kenya wasn't buckling under the weight of his pack,so that was good...but he was a bit nervous as he stood next to Mizuki, looking up the mountain. "It's...tall." He laughed. The wind was terrible, and he hoped it wasn't going to make their job difficult.

THE PICK UP

They had finished rescuing the ill fortuned team two, and so the rescue team had decided to drop by and pick up team one on the way back.

Use Engineering's precious equipment to search for ore deposits! Move rocks out of the way! Observe weird and wonderful wildlife!

Tooyama was IN HIS ELEMENT as he helpfully shifted (very large) rocks out of the way for Marui and Kikumaru to use the fancy metal detectors on the ground. Anything that he couldn't shift manually he PUNCHED INTO CRUMBS. He laughed as he kicked one particularly large rock out of the way and it went bouncing away, smacking into other things.

This was SO MUCH FUN.

EXPEDITION: TEAM1 PART 2 SPECIAL EVENT!

You've made it almost all the way to the top! However, an unexpected, strong gust of wind has blown a key piece of equipment off the side of the mountain. It's fine, but now you'll have to go all the way back down to get it, especially since your colleagues in Team 2 have their own problems to deal with and can't give you a hand... Worse, there's a dust storm coming ...

Kenya stared in horror as the equipment blew off the side of the mountain. He saw it land and stopped himself from immediately chasing after it. He looked to his teammates. "Logically, I should go get it, right? I'm fastest. But the weather isn't looking good..."

Tooyama's enthusiastic digging has unfortunately caused a cave-in. All of you have now fallen into a deep cavern, thankfully mostly unhurt. Will you call for help, or will you try to find a way out? Comms signals are sporadic.

The ground disappeared beneath Eiji's feet and there was a brief moment where he blacked out but the moment he saw, in the light of the nanosuit's automatic illumination system, that they were now somehow in an underground cavern, his first thought was, "Oh wow, an actual cave-in," he said, pulling himself up. He'd heard of these! How exciting! "Is everyone okay? Tooyama? Ibu? Marui? The thing I put on Marui?"

AFTER THE BOSS FIGHT

Eiji watched as Tooyama dealt the finishing blow on the giant Elizabethan Crawler, ready to fling more gold at it if he needed more help, but with a last "Hsha!" she went down and he let out a cheer.

"Hey I think she's dead!" he exclaimed, running towards the greatest fighter he'd ever seen, standing in the gross bug remains.

THE RESCUE

Byodoin was pumped. Sure, the weird communications had interrupted his morning at the pool, but now he was in his element. An actual mission. How he'd missed these.

Luckily the site of the cave in was pretty visible, so they knew right where to go. "Subterranean caves, huh? Well who knows, could be something useful down there..."

He moved closer to the edge. "Brat! Kikumaru! Fatty! You down there!?"

Hopefully they'd had the sense not to wander too far. Otherwise they'd have to go in after them.

EXPEDITION: ALL TEAMS + RESCUE TEAM SPECIAL EVENT -- DUST STORM!!!

Everyone's all accounted for (except for NPC, may you rest in peace/pieces) and safe and sound on the two shuttles! You would be making your way back, but there is a severe dust storm! Your orders are to wait it out. Both shuttles have been parked in a relatively sheltered area and linked together for extra stability. Crew can pass between the shuttles freely. Have fun and don't go too stir crazy!

Since the rescue, Tooyama had glued himself to Byodoin as much as possible (if he always stayed wrapped around Byodoin's neck, he couldn't get in trouble for jostling the puncture wound by climbing him, right?) and when the dust storm hit and grounded them, it was no different. "Hay! Byodoin!!! Hopefully SANTA doesn't get caught up in the dust storm!!"
