[SEMIOPEN LOG] EXPEDITION 2, ALL TEAMS

Semi-open log for the second expedition, Team 1 (Mizuki-Yukimura-Oshitari K) and Team 2 (Marui-Tooyama-Kikumaru-Ibu). 

 

How this works: only characters involved in this event can tag in this log.

Pre-Expedition Events (Opens Aug 6, lasts till Aug 8 or until everyone gets tired of it): Training and Packing. These events will involve only training/supply personnel (e.g. Medical for First Aid, Engineering for equipment, Logistics for requisitions, Tachibana for rations etc) and the personnel going on the mission. 

Expedition: (Opens Aug 9 and lasts till Aug 23, or until everyone gets tired of it): Set up categories/threads as needed, for example :Camping, Digging, More Digging. Other characters can also tag eg if someone makes a comm call, but make sure you ask/inform that person first, and this should not take up significant portions of the log. As always, ask in the Discord if you have any questions.

"I had no idea you had such extensive medical training, nor indeed the authority to issue such orders." Atobe replied coolly to Ibu, noting the camera in the film producer's hand and the slightly peeved expression that suggested his exit shot had been ruined.

He turned to Byodoin. "If we are not returning directly to the shuttle, I would certainly prefer to stay here until my patient has regained consciousness and I can better assess the injury. Perhaps a moment to cool off might also be welcome."

Ibu ignored the dig. Clearly, Atobe was unaware or didn't care that he had extensive survival skills.

In any case, if they needed Marui to wake up, Ibu knew just the thing.

"Marui sir, Jirou sir has just unsubscribed from your channel and canceled his Patreon. Momoshiro has eaten all of the cake on base and the candy has been contaminated."

Marui had been enjoying his rock-induced sleep, when a few certain words painstakingly filtered into his subconscious.

Groggy as hell, he opened his eyes a crack.

"Whoth' helliz Momojiro?"

Atobe raised an eyebrow. Clearly Ibu did have a useful medical skill set. He shone a light in Marui's eyes and watched the pupils dilate.

"Do not sit up," he instructed, "Can you tell me where you are? And where you feel pain."

If Marui managed to answer coherently, then he could be carried to the surface.

And Marui immediately closed his eyes again, screw this.

"How'm I supposed t'see where I am when you're shining that fucking light in m'eyes."

That sounded pretty coherent. Atobe flicked off the light and stood back.

"With a head injury, he should not walk," he told Byodoin. "Can we carry him? Preferably on the stretcher so that he remains flat."

He looked upwards at the light glittering far over head. "A slow lift by rope would keep him most stable."

Atobe was fully aware that the team he was with would likely prefer to throw Marui back over their shoulder and scale the wall by hand. But as head of the medical unit, he did feel at least obliged to offer the sane suggestion.

Ibu wasn't even sure Marui could stand on his own, let alone walk, but he kept his mouth shut for the time being. To be fair to Atobe, his idea on getting Marui out of the cave was probably the best bet unless it was too windy and whoever was flying couldn't keep the craft stable. In any case, Ibu was going to be filming the now less-than-dramatic rescue.

"What about attaching a cable to one end of the stretcher and guiding him up the ladder?" Ibu suggested.

For Marui the adrenaline was wearing off, and the pain was starting to set in, (which at least kept him from going to sleep, which he very much wanted to do at that moment.)

"I don't really care how y'do it, but can y'do it quick? M'hungry annit feels like someone hit me in th'head with a rock."

"That's because Shinji hit you in the head with a rock." Byodoin replied matter of factly, starting to skillfully hook Marui onto his body board. This wasn't his first rescue mission.

One Marui was all strapped in he dug through the supplies for a backpack with a strange bracket on it... which he hooked to the body board and then casually put on.

Yes, he was wearing the body board like a backpack, with Marui still laying perfectly flat. It was probably something only he or Kin could accomplish. And then, with Marui strapped to his back, he started to steadily climb the ladder.

Wait, what. "Why th'hell'd he do that? Am I bleeding??" Marui felt at the lump on his head while Byodoin was strapping him down.

And then he was hauled up into the 'backpack' and uhhh this seemed like a bad idea. "Is this allowed???" Too late now, they were already on the way up the ladder.

"Because you were going to hit me with the rock," Ibu said in defense, then muttered "Better you than me" under his breath. "In any case, you were wearing your helmet. It could have been worse. There is blood though. Could make for a good story, if you tell it right."

Ibu adjusted the camera to capture Byodoin's trek up the ladder with Marui's prone body strapped to his back. An airlift would have been more awesome, but editing might be able to save this.

"Do try and stay still," Atobe said to Marui, as his patient sailed into the air. He tightened the straps on his own backpack, resisted squirting the antiseptic spray at Ibu's camera lens, and followed the team to the surface.

Tezuka stood at the mouth of the cavern, arms folded across his chest and tapping his foot impatiently. Before he could've even suggested flying one of the emergency pods down for Marui's airlift, this fool of a mission leader had carried the injured man up the cave walls.
"I hope you all have a sound reason for carrying Marui up like that," he snapped over the comms. "Atobe, did you not consider the fact that I, or [NPC] could've brought a pod down for him?" Idiots. He was working with idiots.

"Oh calm your tits. I've done this a dozen times before." Byodoin replied into his communicator as he got to the shuttle and started unloading Marui. He didn't look like he was hurt that bad anyway. "Anyway, we're pulling out. Make sure everyone gets their asses back up here."

Tezuka scoffed and rolled his eyes. "The shuttle is ready for takeoff, we just need all of you to be in and securely seated." he said into the communicator on his wrist.
"Is Eiji alright?" he then asked, the worry for his friend not fading away.
