[OPEN LOG] EMERGENCY DRILL

It is 0200 UTC. A loud wailing emergency siren pierces the quiet of the sleeping base, waking you up instantly (or not). In your bleary-eyed state you realize this is the evacuation signal you’ve all been trained to recognise. Time to go!

Notes:
- Only dept heads were told about the drill, but they only knew that it would be held, not when
- The only ones who know the full picture are Byodoin and CDR Ryuuzaki
- Everyone has gone through the safety training and ideally knows to evacuate to the designated outdoor location… right?

An outside meeting spot (under a rock outcropping some ways away from the base, so there's a bit of shelter from the 24/7 sun).

Byodoin sat back to watch the camera feed on his communicator with interest, scrolling through the different feeds to check how everyone was doing on their part of the evacuation.

Some people where definitely doing better than others.

YOMI GROUND FLOOR

Shuttle bay, Agri etc. Some personnel may be responsible for securing the shuttle and important materials. People will have to come through here to get outside. Remember to suit up!

Gakuto had been in Hiyoshi’s room when the alarm sounded and was immediately in evacuation mode. He knew Hiyoshi had a job to do, so he kissed him, threatened him with a second death if he died, and headed to the shuttlebay. After suiting up, he got to work helping to get everything secured.

It was a long, long time before Gakuto saw Hiyoshi again. Hours, actually, but as soon as he had a free moment, Hiyoshi came and found Gakuto.

Yanagi woke up with a sigh as the siren went off. He'd extrapolated that some kind of drill would be taking place, but did not have enough data as to when and what kind. Of course, there was the slim possibility it was an actual emergency... He accessed his communicator, grabbed his nanosuit and hurriedly made his way to Command in his yukata and fuzzy slippers to start coordinating the evacuation efforts.

Yawning, Kirihara walked into the Command office a few steps behind Yanagi. No one had ever actually gone over what he should do in an evacuation drill. In previous places, it'd always been to evacuate quickly and wait for further orders. With the move to Command though, Kirihara figured he should probably check in to make sure there wasn't some sort of important duty he had to actually do. Besides, Command was on the way out of here anyways...

"Is this real or a drill?" Kirihara asked.

Ibu had stayed up late, unintentionally, working on edits to the next portion of his documentary when the alarm sounded. Quickly hitting save, he collected the two SD cards that had all the footage as well as a small GoPro EX to record.

He ran through the SOP in his head on what to do: put on nanosuit, calmly leave the area, close any doors behind you, make your way swiftly yet carefully to the nearest stairwell, and finally proceed orderly to the assembly area. Okay, time for the nanosuit.

Yanagi had changed into his nanosuit, secured Command, delegated tasks (especially for Kirihara), and was now on his way to the assembly area, busily typing on his communicator all the while. Distracted, he bumped into someone in the corridor.

"Excuse me," he apologised, then saw it was Shinji. "Shinji-san, hello."

Kintarou shot awake, well attuned to the sound of the evacuation alarm. In an instant, any tiredness was gone and he was INSTANTLY AWAKE. And he leaped out of bed to the other side of the room, shaking Tachibana awake. "Tachibana Tachibana!!! HURRY UP!!! We GOTTA GO!!!" He grabbed onto Tachibana's arm and tried to pull him off the bed. "Why are you SO SLOW??? It's not the right time to be a TURTLE!!!!"

Tachibana startled awake, staring wide-eyed at Kin-chan. "What's going on?" He mumbled, almost falling out of bed. "...We need to go?" The alarms going off finally registered. "Shit!" He stood up. "Okay. Yes, let's go."

Tezuka had finally gotten Licht to sleep and was about to settle into bed himself when he heard the siren blare out. He knew Licht wouldn't like the loud noise and immediately picked up his blanket to wrap her sleepy self in.
Licht whined in Tezuka's arms and looked up at him, now wide awake. He stroked her head and held her close. Poor baby.

Everyone probably heard him before they saw him, but Mizuki was right outside the residential area with his loudhailer, attempting to do his job ... not that anyone was actually paying attention.

He caught sight of Tezuka and added, "... put all pets into carriers or harnesses!"

Shishido woke quickly when the alarm started going off. His first reaction was the groan. The first night in several days when he wasn't on nightshift and actually had a chance to sleep? And he gets woken up by the evacuation alarm. Grabbing the jacket that was sitting on the back of his desk chair, Shishido left his room and headed the wrong way. He knew he was supposed to follow the crowd and go to the shuttle bay. However he also equally knew there was a very strong chance Jirou would sleep through this whole thing. So Shishido headed over to Jirou's room in an attempt to make sure his friend made it out safely.

Yup, Jirou was asleep. Sound asleep, and dead to the world. The blaring sirens weren't enough to wake him up.

It sure was lucky for him that Shishido was there to look out for him.

Zaizen had been napping in Kenya's room, just chilling and waiting for his husband to get off work, when the alarms went off.

Well fuck, that wasn't good.

Zaizen wiggled into his (Kenya's, actually) nanosuit and hesitated for a moment before putting a harness on the iguana as well, hefting her large body up and taking her along as he headed for the stairs, because Kenya would no doubt worry about his pet.

Marui had been fully out for the count in his room, dead to even Kirihara's snoring. Akaya, the veteran that he was, got them both up and out in true prompt military fashion, and contrary to what you might expect Marui didn't put up any fight. Sure, being woken up in the middle of the night sucked, but so did (checks notes) dying, so the only extra thing Marui grabbed was his gopro, which he clipped on to the neck of his shirt and immediately turned on before running for the stairs like a good little evacuee.

And hey, look. Iguana in the stairwell. "Zaizen! Wait for me!!"

Yagyuu had been in a deep, dreamless sleep when an alarm sounded. Annoying, but not wholly unexpected. He reached to the bedside table and grabbed his glasses, putting them on before he got out of bed. This would have been better if he'd been working the night shift--at least then he'd have already been awake and not losing out on sleep.

He grabbed his comms device and checked the procedures for evacuation, almost laughing at the mentions to remain calm. That rarely happened in an emergency. Yagyuu closed the procedures and put on his nanosuit. Inui wasn't there, so he hoped the man was already on his way to the safety area.

The sudden siren and all the lights in engineering suddenly turning on woke Niou up from his light doze and he groaned, sticking a pillow over his face. Either the promised drill... or an actual evacuation.

He could hear the night shift workers going through the motions of shutting down the engineering labs, and he managed to get out of his loft, pulling on a sweater and shoes over his pyjamas. And then sat down

Evacuation involved all the lifts shutting down due to the emergency, and climbings the stairs from B3 was just not an option. If it was a drill, he supposed he could just fail.

And if it was an actual evacuation... Niou closed his eyes and let his mind wander through the various things that could have gone wrong with the base. Maybe he should have stayed in his loft.

After making sure his roommate wasn't about to be left behind during the evacuation, Sanada quickly made his way to engineering where he suspected Niou would be. It didn't hurt to come down here and make sure all of the engineers were following the protocol for this particular evacuation signal and wrapping up final procedures before heading to the stairs.

Sanada greeted the engineers he saw and shouted out a few commands before marching up to Niou's door and giving it a firm knock. "Niou, time to evacuate." He had promised to carry him up the stairs to safety if it was ever required after all.

Inui made his way quickly from the rooms to the labs, using his height to push his way through the evacuating residents on the stairs as he went in the opposite direction.

Secure the special containment area, check on his more volatile experiments that they wouldn't cause a meltdown, and then he could evacuate. Inui ran through the most likely causes of evacuation and estimated that he had likely, approximately 1 hour and 12 minutes until his life would be in peril. And if it was significantly shorter than that, then there was little hope anyway in terms of chances of successful evacuation.

1 hour and 11 minutes, he told himself as he entered the labs, turning on the lights and heading for his experiments.

Kenya had been on night shift when the alarm went off. He immediately got into high alert and did a sweep of medbay, making sure everything that needed to be off was off before making sure all the patients could escape. Unfortunately, there was one unfortunate NPC with a broken leg. Knowing the elevators would be off, he got the patient on his back and started running for the shuttlebay.
