Greetings, residents of Yomi!
Today, I bring you your monthly bulletin on recent events both here and around UEA-settled space.
Firstly, a summary of events here in Yomi:
Work on the baths has resumed. The expected completion date is late next month or early December.
Two expedition teams have been sent out to explore the overland and underground areas around our new mining outpost. They are expected back shortly.
There has been an outbreak of influenza, mostly in the Engineering department. It is now mostly contained, though unfortunately, our new Engineering head of department has passed away from the disease. A memorial will be held at Engineering on the 25th.
General announcements:
The scheduled monthly communications are in. Please check your communicators for any messages you may have received.
The deadline for sending your monthly allotment of communications to UEA space is Oct 30, UTC 1200.
There will be a Halloween party on the 31st of October, organized by our morale and public relations officers. The exact time and location will be circulated closer to the date.
Please remember to stay on top of your vaccinations and declare all underlying health issues to Med Bay! This is very important. Don’t want to expire like the last head of Engineering.
The head of Engineering position is not cursed.
Awards and Punishments:
This month’s employee of the month is…. Dr. Tachibana Kippei. Thank you for your significant contributions to the improved quality of our meals here on base. The chicken cordon bleu was excellent. As a reward, you may collect (1) packet of chewing gum from the Command office.
Punishments: Encouragingly fewer this time, but unfortunately, there were still some misdemeanors
For horseplay in a work area, Mr. Marui and Mr. Niou will be required to serve 30 hours community service in Logistics.
Petty Officers Hiyoshi and Kirihara. I would have thought you would understand the proper protocol during an elevator malfunction. You will take turns to recite the SOP for general and emergency procedures for elevators in the rec room for 2 hours each on two evenings of your choice. Within the next two weeks, please.
Scientific updates:
Our very own Ensign Inui, who also runs his own research programme has been awarded a special merit award from the UEA for his contributions to science. It is likely that Izanagi will start to draw additional scientists from all over UEA space, which will be a significant boost to our colony.
Further studies on the bioluminescent organisms found in Lake Kobayashi have found that they secrete a substance that is mildly toxic to humans. Thankfully, our water treatment systems are able to remove the toxin completely, so our outpost supply remains safe.
News from UEA HQ, Earth and other colonies
The multi-continental megadrought on Earth continues into its 3rd month. Experts are forecasting it will continue for at least another 8 weeks.
And finally, here are the monthly directives:
We will start exploring towards the Belt Ocean and survey for good locations for future outposts and desalination plants.
Do your best for humanity!
