[SEMIOPEN LOG] EXPEDITION 2, ALL TEAMS

Semi-open log for the second expedition, Team 1 (Mizuki-Yukimura-Oshitari K) and Team 2 (Marui-Tooyama-Kikumaru-Ibu).

How this works: only characters involved in this event can tag in this log.

Pre-Expedition Events (Opens Aug 6, lasts till Aug 8 or until everyone gets tired of it): Training and Packing. These events will involve only training/supply personnel (e.g. Medical for First Aid, Engineering for equipment, Logistics for requisitions, Tachibana for rations etc) and the personnel going on the mission.

Expedition: (Opens Aug 9 and lasts till Aug 23, or until everyone gets tired of it): Set up categories/threads as needed, for example :Camping, Digging, More Digging. Other characters can also tag eg if someone makes a comm call, but make sure you ask/inform that person first, and this should not take up significant portions of the log. As always, ask in the Discord if you have any questions.

Mizuki shifted his pack and looked up the looming expanse of rock with dread. How long would it take to scale this mountain?! The footing was precarious, and there were no trails, so they had to pick their way carefully through the rocks. They would probably need to do a fair bit of rock climbing too, depending on their luck. It was only the beginning of the expedition, and Mizuki was already feeling exhausted.

Sanada blinked at Kenya's way of greeting him but there were certainly worse things to be called. "The name's Sanada Genichirou," He said. Just in case Oshitari didn't know. It was possible with so many people on base. He noticed the man was in pants and not his skirt, a slight shame but pants were certainly the much more practical choice.

"And you'll be doing more than adjusting for wind. You'll have to do final assembly of the tower, drill foundations and set connectors into place and then do final diagnostic checks once everything is in place," Sanada warned. They were setting up a major communication tower, not some small TV antennae from the past. "And you'll want to run through checks that you have everything you need for the hike up and down and that it all works."

Mizuki hid a smile at Kenya's mode of address for Sanada. Wasn't it the truth!

Clearing his throat as Sanada got serious, he nodded in acknowledgement. "Of course," he agreed. "I've run through the simulations several times." It was no substitute for the real thing... but it would have to do.

Kenya had to say, all of this was quite daunting. He wasn’t versed in construction at all, but he was trying very hard to understand all of it. "We'll do our very best." He promised, deciding maybe he should keep doing the simulation until he got it right.

Kenya managed to get his arms arouns Kin's middle as he looped around and was now being dragged by Kin-chan. "You're so stubborn!!!"

Kenya wasn't buckling under the weight of his pack,so that was good...but he was a bit nervous as he stood next to Mizuki, looking up the mountain. "It's...tall." He laughed. The wind was terrible, and he hoped it wasn't going to make their job difficult.

Eiji finished running through his very official pre-departure shuttle pilot checklist and patted the dashboard of the shuttle fondly. "Let's have a fun ride, okay Calpurnia~" He hopped out of the pilot's seat hearing the familiar sound of Tooyama yelling somewhere in the shuttle bay. He peered out of the bay doors to see the skirt Oshitari being dragged around by Tooyama and shrugged. It was probably a cunning plan to tire Tooyama out so he could nap on the trip!

Sanada gave a satisfied nod at the responses. It seemed like they'd done the pre-training. That should make things easier. "If you want to train with the real equipment, we can get our nanotech suits on and go outside. At least if you break anything now, I'm here to fix it." Or at least one of the engineers could depending on what it was.

Kin cheered as he had Kenya now as an extra weight on his back. And proceeded to keep dragging him around, "I gotta get CHANGED, KENYA!!" Kin said eventually and oops, SUDDEN DETOUR to the nanosuits. Hopefully Kenya got to the cuts before he got the nanosuit on for 2 weeks straight.

Once they were at the nanosuits, Kenya immediately grabbed the box and started bandaging. "I'm sorry, Kin-chan, but they need covered or your body parts will fall off!!" It was a lie, but Kenya was a nurse, so maybe Kin would believe him.

Kin was prepared to scream and wrestle Kenya away again because he was wasting bandaids!!! but the warning made him freeze. "NO!!!" he was horrified. His limbs could fall off. "And then they'd be STUCK in the nanosuit with me!!" Kin said, looking more and more horrified at the mental images. "OH NO. DO MY LEGS TOO, KENYA!!"

"You got it." Kenya bandaged all of Kin-chan’s open wounds. When he was done, he gave Kin a thumbs-up. "There you go!"

Mizuki couldn't think of something he'd dread more than going outside in the sand, but ... the thought of messing up in front of Kenya and Yukimura at a critical moment was even more horrifying. More practice it was, then.

"Certainly," he agreed, trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Slow and steady wins the race!" said Mizuki, trying to sound cheerful. The wind was howling and whipping sand in their faces, so he was almost shouting. "Let's leave markers to make sure we don't end up circling around."

"Oh dear," sighed Mizuki, from where he was already seated. "Is Tooyama-kun all right? They're making quite a ruckus."

Eiji stepped away from the door and looked at Mizuki. Of course the safety person would be ready to go already!

"I think that's just Tooyama being Tooyama," he grinned. "It looks like ski- Nurse Oshitari's playing a game with him or something."

Mizuki smiled at Eiji in reply (at least someone was enthusiastic about this trip!) and checked his communicator. "Well, I hope they don't take too long. It's almost time to set out. Are you all prepared?"

"Maybe it's part of his training! He's famous in the military, so I'm sure he won't make us late~" Eiji informed him. He patted the shuttle walls and flashed Mizuki a victory sign. "Calpurnia's all ready to go, flying here is way easier than other planets."

"That is true..." It was space hero Tooyama, after all. Mizuki then remembered something Eiji said. "Wait... Calpurnia?" He was aware most craft had names, but they were mostly in the vein of AZ-650 and such (with the occasional "Moonshine" or "Derby" ), unless they were transporter-class ships or larger. "Calpurnia" was new.

Eiji nodded brightly. "She's got a boring official name with numbers but I like to call her Calpurnia Wilhelmina von Izanagi," he said with a wink. "Shuttles deserve to have cool names, even if they don't get to have cannons."

Tooyama was IN HIS ELEMENT as he helpfully shifted (very large) rocks out of the way for Marui and Kikumaru to use the fancy metal detectors on the ground. Anything that he couldn't shift manually he PUNCHED INTO CRUMBS. He laughed as he kicked one particularly large rock out of the way and it went bouncing away, smacking into other things.

This was SO MUCH FUN.

"I...see," Mizuki responded, blinking. That certainly was a choice. Also, cannons?! There was no way they would get approved, but Mizuki was too polite to say anything, considering Eiji's enthusiasm.

"The 'von Izanagi' part I get, but what about the other parts of the name?"

How Mizuki was cheerful was beyond his comprehension at this moment, but Yukimura heard the suggestion and quickly looked through his pack. A string of multicolored flags. That should work. And if he had them, the others should too. "Maybe we can tie these together," he shouted into the wind. "And use them as Mizuki suggested."

Ibu was getting great footage. (Though, he could really do without the wind. It was going to take so much editing to reduce the noise.) He panned around the area, then focused for a few minutes on each of his teammates. Tooyama was definitely enjoying himself. Definitely his element, Ibu thought, then zoomed in on Marui and Kikumaru. He couldn't quite tell from the nanosuits, but it didn't look like Marui was having that great of a time. "Would you rather be punching rocks as well, Marui sir?" he half-asked, half-shouted. "While I'm certain Tooyama sir has it completely under control, I thought you might like a change of pace for a little while and maybe rock demolition would be something you'd like to do. Of course, that isn't to say you can't also participate, Kikumaru sir."

Kenya looked absolutely horrified at Mizuki's statement. "Slow?? I can't go slow!" He sighed. This was worse than he thought. Though he had to admit he wasn't getting anywhere fast with the wind the way it was. "Okay, that sounds like a good plan!" He grabbed his flags from his bag as well. "Great idea, guys!"
