[OPEN LOG] EMERGENCY DRILL

It is 0200 UTC. A loud wailing emergency siren pierces the quiet of the sleeping base, waking you up instantly (or not). In your bleary-eyed state you realize this is the evacuation signal you’ve all been trained to recognise. Time to go!

Notes:
- Only dept heads were told about the drill, but they only knew that it would be held, not when
- The only ones who know the full picture are Byodoin and CDR Ryuuzaki
- Everyone has gone through the safety training and ideally knows to evacuate to the designated outdoor location… right?

Bedrooms, rec rooms, mess hall, gym etc.

Kintarou shot awake, well attuned to the sound of the evacuation alarm. In an instant, any tiredness was gone and he was INSTANTLY AWAKE. And he leaped out of bed to the other side of the room, shaking Tachibana awake. "Tachibana Tachibana!!! HURRY UP!!! We GOTTA GO!!!" He grabbed onto Tachibana's arm and tried to pull him off the bed. "Why are you SO SLOW??? It's not the right time to be a TURTLE!!!!"

Tachibana startled awake, staring wide-eyed at Kin-chan. "What's going on?" He mumbled, almost falling out of bed. "...We need to go?" The alarms going off finally registered. "Shit!" He stood up. "Okay. Yes, let's go."

!! Tachibana said a BAD WORD. "You can say bad words only because it's a bad situation," he said sternly, latching onto Tachibana's arm. And okay! Time to go! "Gotta grab IMPORTANT THINGS on the way out, okey??" Kintarou knew this, just in case everything got lost. He shoved some things off Tachibana's desk blindly into the other man's chest.

Tachibana stared at the items handed to him. The egg timer and his small satchel of spoons. He held them close before his stomach dropped. "I need to make sure Masaharu is okay!" He insisted.

"NO!!!" Kintarou grabbed harder onto Tachibana's arm. "You GOTTA GO!!! In an evacuation you GOTTA GET OUT!!!" He knew this! "And I gotta go help BYODOIN!!"

Tachibana stood no chance of breaking out of Kintarou's hold. "You'll make sure he’s not stuck somewhere, right?" He knew he couldn't fight Kintarou like this. "Please."

Tezuka had finally gotten Licht to sleep and was about to settle into bed himself when he heard the siren blare out. He knew Licht wouldn't like the loud noise and immediately picked up his blanket to wrap her sleepy self in.
Licht whined in Tezuka's arms and looked up at him, now wide awake. He stroked her head and held her close. Poor baby.

"Please proceed in an orderly manner... Do not take the elevators ... put on your nanosuits..."

Everyone probably heard him before they saw him, but Mizuki was right outside the residential area with his loudhailer, attempting to do his job ... not that anyone was actually paying attention.

He caught sight of Tezuka and added, "... put all pets into carriers or harnesses!"

Hm? Tezuka heard Mizuki's voice directed at him...and proceeded to trod over with a half asleep puppy in his arms.
"Hello Mizuki-san. Please hold Licht so that I can wrap her up in a harness." he asked – no, stated – and proceeded to shove her into the safety consultant's arms. He then wrapped the blanket in a criss-cross way before taking his puppy back and tying her up in the make-do swaddle. "Thank you, hope you can help others out as well."
Tezuka then proceeded to go back to his room to rescue his Marilyn, reprimanding himself in his head.

"What the blasted hells are you doing, Tezuka!?!?" Byodoin blared over the loudspeaker. "Listen to my fucking boyfriend and evacuate in an orderly fashion! No going back to your room! I've met rocks more competent than you!"

Byodoin could see all.

Kintarou was being HELPFUL and helping people evacuate as quickly as possible. And he heard Byodoin's voice over the loud speaker, which he counted as basically getting an order, heading straight for Tezuka. "YOU GOTTA GO!!!" he shouted, grabbing onto Tezuka's arm before he could go back into his room. "You can't ever GO BACK when you have to go out!! THAT'S HOW YOU GET HURT!!" he hauled Tezuka along with him to get to the stairs. Sorry Marilyn.

Mizuki flailed a little as he was suddenly handed a furry lump, almost dropping his loudhailer. Just as suddenly, the puppy was taken away again, and Byodoin's voice blared over the PA system, followed by Tooyama's excited screaming. Too much excitement for 2am, honestly.

"Houou-san, Tooyama-kun, no need to shout," said Mizuki, wincing a little. "Tezuka-san can hear you! He's not going to go back, right?" He looked expectantly at Tezuka.

"And Tooyama-kun will see that he's safely evacuated!" Mizuki waved them along. "Please do get going! You're holding up traffic!"

Byodoin chuckled over the intercom. "Roger that, babe. Keep up the good work!"

"Marilyn..." Tezuka mumbled, trailing off as he was dragged away by Tooyama. They weren't wrong, it was an emergency...but poor Marilyn...he would never forgive himself if something happened to his lovely bonsai.

Shishido woke quickly when the alarm started going off. His first reaction was the groan. The first night in several days when he wasn't on nightshift and actually had a chance to sleep? And he gets woken up by the evacuation alarm. Grabbing the jacket that was sitting on the back of his desk chair, Shishido left his room and headed the wrong way. He knew he was supposed to follow the crowd and go to the shuttle bay. However he also equally knew there was a very strong chance Jirou would sleep through this whole thing. So Shishido headed over to Jirou's room in an attempt to make sure his friend made it out safely.

Yup, Jirou was asleep. Sound asleep, and dead to the world. The blaring sirens weren't enough to wake him up.

It sure was lucky for him that Shishido was there to look out for him.

If it were another time or another situation, Shishido would have knocked first. Shishido could see Jirou's roommate down the hallway though, helping direct people. So Shishido took advantage of the fact that Jirou had programmed his door to just let Shishido in. Sure that'd been months ago but it was definitely coming in handy now.

And of course, there was Jirou still sound asleep in bed.

"Come on," Shishido said, looping an arm around Jirou to drag the guy to the evacuation area. If he got lucky, Jirou might even wake up a little.

Jirou stirred a little, but only enough to glom onto Shishido for support as he was sleepily dragged from his room. At least his legs were sleepily working on instinct alone to walk alongside Shishido, thought it was completely unclear what would happen when they reached the stairs.

Zaizen had been napping in Kenya's room, just chilling and waiting for his husband to get off work, when the alarms went off.

Well fuck, that wasn't good.

Zaizen wiggled into his (Kenya's, actually) nanosuit and hesitated for a moment before putting a harness on the iguana as well, hefting her large body up and taking her along as he headed for the stairs, because Kenya would no doubt worry about his pet.

Marui had been fully out for the count in his room, dead to even Kirihara's snoring. Akaya, the veteran that he was, got them both up and out in true prompt military fashion, and contrary to what you might expect Marui didn't put up any fight. Sure, being woken up in the middle of the night sucked, but so did (checks notes) dying, so the only extra thing Marui grabbed was his gopro, which he clipped on to the neck of his shirt and immediately turned on before running for the stairs like a good little evacuee.

And hey, look. Iguana in the stairwell. "Zaizen! Wait for me!!"

Zaizen turned to nod at Marui, before continuing to the stairs alongside him.

"Hey. Not a great way to wake up, is it?" Zaizen commented dryly, shifting his grip on Yuuko as they went up the stair case. He was so glad there weren't too many stairs to clear with this big beast of a lizard. "You doing okay?"

"I should be asking you that, you're the one packing around the extra weight. Is Ken-chan still on night shift?" Judging by the fact that Zaizen was the one carrying Yuuko and not Kenya, it seemed clear that he was. Marui, in the meantime, hadn't given much though to the fact that evacuating would likely end in a transfer to the mining outpost, but for now that was for the best.

"Yeah, Kenya-san's on night shift so he'll meet up with us up above. And I figured he'd be worried about his pet." Zaizen shrugged. "She's my stepchild anyway, I ought to look out for her."

He continued up the stairs with his boyfriend, relieved that he seemed calm and collected right now. That was a good sign.

Yagyuu had been in a deep, dreamless sleep when an alarm sounded. Annoying, but not wholly unexpected. He reached to the bedside table and grabbed his glasses, putting them on before he got out of bed. This would have been better if he'd been working the night shift--at least then he'd have already been awake and not losing out on sleep.

He grabbed his comms device and checked the procedures for evacuation, almost laughing at the mentions to remain calm. That rarely happened in an emergency. Yagyuu closed the procedures and put on his nanosuit. Inui wasn't there, so he hoped the man was already on his way to the safety area.
