[OPEN LOG] Spring Celebrations!

It’s Spring!

Well, back on Earth anyway.

… In places that still have predictable seasons.

In honor of this historically and agriculturally significant seasonal Earth event, Cpt Ryuuzaki has seen fit to organize a celebration of all things Spring.

And maybe also celebrate the temperature control working again.

Picnic blankets have been laid out in the VR room, where everyone can enjoy light refreshments under (virtual) cherry blossoms. An easter egg hunt has also been set up around the base. Enjoy this completely arbitrary celebration since Yomi has the budget for it! \o/

Collect all 7 different coloured eggs and win a prize! Multiples of each color have been hidden all around the base.
Blue polkadot eggs are hidden near the pool.
Green tiger stripe eggs are hidden around the greenhouse.
Yellow star eggs are in weird spots in Engineering.
Red checkered eggs are scattered all over Agri.
Purple cow print eggs are in the small gardens dotted around the base.
Pink flower print eggs are in the mess hall.
Rainbow striped eggs can be traded at the bar. 3 eggs of different colors = 1 rainbow egg. (Note that eggs exchanged for rainbow eggs cannot be counted towards the total)

Sanada was pulling down some materials he needed when something dropped down from the shelf to land on his boot. He paused and frowned as he looked down. An egg? He pushed the things he was getting further back onto the shelf and bent down to retrieve the egg. "Why does it have stars?" He asked as he held it up. Weird. Maybe he somehow missed a memo about them. He still hadn't finished catching up on all of the paperwork and base-wide memos since returning from the mini-crab disaster.

"Oh, Sanada-san, you found one! How lucky!" Mizuki wandered over from where he had been examining some boxes. "Well, where there's one there must be more, I suppose..."

Sanada looked over at Mizuki who seemed way too excited about him discovering a weird egg thing. "Is it yours?" He asked. He held it out so Mizuki could see it better. He didn't know why or how it had ended up where it had but Mizuki did presumably do safety checks in random places.

"You don't want it?" Mizuki asked, confused, then snapped his fingers in realisation. "Oh! Do you not know about the Easter Egg hunt? There's an event today!" He pulled up the event announcement on his communicator and showed it to Sanada.

"There's a what?" Now Sanada was even more confused. How did he miss an announcement about an event? He read over it and frowned. Why did someone hide eggs all around engineering? Didn't they know that could be dangerous? If nothing else, it would probably be annoying. But also, if he already had one, should he try to find the others? "I see... How many have you found so far?"

Curiouser and curiouser!

Mizuki tugged at a curl, thinking. "So you really didn't know. Strange, I thought they'd have at least informed someone in Engineering... and you're one of the co-heads, right?" That was a little worrying.

In response to Sanada's query, Mizuki displayed his collection of four differently brightly coloured eggs. "There are seven colours, apparently."

"Niou probably approved it and forgot to tell me," Sanada said with a shrug. It would not be the first time that Niou forgot to tell him something. The man was a genius in his own way but also a bit of a disaster on the organizational front.

Sanada looked at the four eggs in Mizuki's hand and then pulled out his own datapad to bring up the poster so he wouldn't have to keep using Mizuki's and frowned. "The rainbow one needs three extra eggs to get... that's annoying. What do you think the prize is?" Perhaps it'd be better to team up. They could expedite the hunt, share the prize, and then move on to enjoy the other activities apparently lined up.

That did sound like something Niou might do. He didn't seem to be the most organised person. Mizuki was glad Niou shared responsibilities with Sanada, or Engineering might just snowball into disaster.

He sighed at the mention of the prize. "I'd like to think it's something exciting, but you know Captain Ryuuzaki..." The employee of the month rewards were just...sad. "I'm just doing it for entertainment, at this point."

Sanada thought of the rewards he'd gotten for being employee of the month and his optimism for an exciting prize diminished a bit. Still, it was a contest and it would still be satisfying to win. "Is there a rule against teaming up?"

Mizuki caught on immediately. "I don't believe so," he said, looking interested. "I think we'd make a good team!"

Mizuki had always felt reassured working with Sanada, who was the second most reliable man on base.

(The first being Byodoin, of course. It was obligatory.)

"Exactly," Sanada said, happy that Mizuki was on board with the plan. He held up the little yellow star egg again to take in the details and then held it out to Mizuki to hold onto. "Let's see if we can find another one here to trade with before going to the next area." That rainbow egg seemed a pain to get but he was confident in his ability to at least find a second egg in his own area.

"Sounds good," Mizuki agreed, tucking the egg into his man-purse. Sanada would know all the potential hiding spots in Engineering best, after all. "I think we should go to the greenhouses next. It's a big enough area to hide things in."

"Alright. So we need another yellow star egg?" Sanada asked just to confirm he read it right while already starting to move around engineering. He wondered if they were all in the same room or spread out further. "Maybe the break area?" It would be a safe area to have people coming in to hunt and had plenty of various hiding spots that could work.

Mizuki nodded. "That's right! I don't think they'll be hidden right next to each other, so the break area is a fair place to start."

They arrived there in seemingly no time at all, Mizuki keeping his eyes peeled all the while. Hmm... maybe hidden in a potted plant?

Sanada headed over to the coffee station they had set up and poked around before moving to the messy shelf that housed various engineering manuals and stray parts and tools that other engineers could take or tinker with if they wanted. Shuffling a few things around he spotted the garish egg. "Mizuki," He said as he held up the egg with a victorious smile. This was easier than he thought.

"Alright, next one."

Well, that was easy. Sanada was truly reliable!

"Wonderful!" exclaimed Mizuki, accepting the egg for safekeeping. "You're amazing, Sanada-san. We'll get all the eggs in no time."
