[OPEN LOG] EMERGENCY DRILL

It is 0200 UTC. A loud wailing emergency siren pierces the quiet of the sleeping base, waking you up instantly (or not). In your bleary-eyed state you realize this is the evacuation signal you’ve all been trained to recognise. Time to go!

Notes:
- Only dept heads were told about the drill, but they only knew that it would be held, not when
- The only ones who know the full picture are Byodoin and CDR Ryuuzaki
- Everyone has gone through the safety training and ideally knows to evacuate to the designated outdoor location… right?

"A few people who thought their possessions were more important than their lives, but it was taken care of. Over all it went smoothly." It was more fun with people causing problems anyway. "It must have been a lot of waiting on your end."

"Yeah, but that's okay." Gakuto said. "I just want to make sure everything is secured...what do you think is going to happen, now?"

"They're running the final security checks and the base diagnostics now. When that's complete, a team will be sent in to deal with whatever they find. Once it's fixed, there's more checks and then hopefully we can return." Hiyoshi was completely unworried. They knew what they were doing here, everything would be fine. "For us it means waiting around at the emergency check point. Worst case scenario, we'll be shuttled to the space station."

"Do you think we'll have to leave?" Gakuto asked softly. "....haven't even been here a year, yet..."

"They won't give up on this colony that easily. It's taken too much time and money to get to this point. But if it does, I'll meet you on Earth." Hiyoshi smooched Gakuto's forehead. You're not getting rid of him that easily.

Gakuto smiled softly. "Okay." Knowing that eased any tension Gakuto had in the pit of his stomache. "It's about time to head off, yeah?"

"Almost. I should check back in with security. I'll see you soon." And with a ruffle of Gakuto's hair, Hiyoshi heads off.
