LOG: Marui and Zaizen

Who: Zaizen and Marui
When: Nov 10th
Where: The VR room
What: Zaizen and Marui make ups.

It had been about three days since Zaizen had entered his room and started working- first on one song for Marui, and then on another one entirely when Marui started being an annoying little bitch. And now he was done and was emerging with rather alarming bags under his eyes to go find said nuisance in order to make him listen to the music about him.

He set off in search of the boyfriend, looking vaguely like a zombie while doing so.

Marui knew when he wasn’t wanted, though some would disagree. He hadn’t expected Zaizen to be quite so stubborn about his personal space, expecting him to give in way sooner, or… at all. Instead it became a huge public mess, and even after Kenya had swooped in and tried to do damage control, Marui was still feeling irritable about the whole thing.

And then Kenya had to go to work, so Marui was left alone to distract himself once again. He’d ended up in the VR room at some point; shooting things was always a great stress reliever.

And the VR room was indeed where panda-Zaizen found Marui, blasting away at imaginary enemies like a pro. Well, it was good he was having fun.

"Bunta-san. Yo." Zaizen greeted, hitting the pause button so that Marui would pay attention to him now.

The audacity. Marui turned around to see who had messed with his game and frowned. “You ruined my combo.” If Zaizen was expecting a warm welcome back to the world of the living, he wasn’t going to get it. Marui’s tone was decidedly cold. “What do you want?”

"I finished what I was working on and wanted you to listen to the finished song first." Zaizen replied, looking exhausted but rather self satisfied. "I wrote it with you in mind."

He stepped towards Marui, holding out a pair of headphones for him demandingly.

“Uh huh.” Marui looked at the headphones and popped a loud bubble, making no move to take them. He looked as unimpressed as he did five seconds ago, (but secretly, hearing the song was for him got his attention.) “You gonna apologize first?” Marui wasn’t done playing stubborn.

Zaizen frowned, entirely unused to being held to social standards in regards to his creative processes. People usually let him get away with it, especially if he wrote something for them.

"What do I have to apologize for? You were the one bothering me when I was trying to work." He pointed out blandly, not entirely convinced he had done anything worth apologizing for.

“And you’re the one who posted about it for everyone to laugh at, and thought Niou’s pictures of crawlers idea was a good one.” Really. Zaizen had been ready to listen to Niou of all people? Talk about insulting. Marui wasn’t having it.

Okay, maybe Marui had a little bit of a point there. "I was mad. I was talked out of doing anything drastic. I just wanted you to leave me alone while I worked."

It wasn't like he actually went through with the crawler picture or calling security or any of that stuff. And Marui being annoying was old news.

Not good enough. No response from Marui. Just a long, cold stare, and a bubble as big as his face. (It ruined the mood a little bit, but any break in the tension was welcome at this point.)

Zaizen grumbled, convinced that Marui was being totally irrational. He wanted Marui to just listen to his song and go back to being fun again.

Sighing, he gave in. "Fine. I'm sorry. I just wanted to work in peace. I don't like being bothered when I feel inspired."

Oh thank god, Zaizen gave in. Marui sighed a mental sigh of relief, glad the standoff was over. They could get to the part where they worked things out and cuddled and everything was better now. The inner change was mirrored on Marui’s face, his pout a far cry from the icy staredown of just a few moments ago. “You could have warned me or something.”

Zaizen pouted a bit, just as much of a brat at Marui, honestly. "I don't really plan when inspiration hits."

He really barely had enough time to call off from his dayjob. Alerting Marui not to bug him in advance seemed like an argument that wasn't worth having.

“So? All you had to do was tell me it’s a thing that happened sometimes. …I probably still wouldn’t have listened, though.” Marui wasn’t oblivious to the fact he’d been annoying as hell. It hadn’t been an accident. “I just wanted to hang out with you. Is it a crime to want to spend time with your boyfriend?”

Zaizen’s ears heated up a little. That comment had managed to perfectly hit his mark, because he actually felt a little guilty about shunning Marui now.

"...I'm sorry. I was writing a song for you, though." Zaizen sulked.

“And I get to be the first to hear it?” Marui closed the gap between them, getting right up into Zaizen’s space and playing with his shirt. He’d gotten the apology he wanted, and now it was time to reward Zaizen with the attention he’d come here to get.

Zaizen seemed to perk right up when Marui finally started paying attention to the fact that he'd written him a song. Writing a song for someone was a pretty major thing in Zaizen's book, so Zaizen felt Marui should be properly flattered by it.

"It's for you, so yeah, you get to be the first to hear it." Zaizen replied, holding the headphones out again.

It was cute how eager Zaizen was to show off his work, Marui thought. On went the headphones, excitement bubbling in his stomach because this was a song for him.

It was certainly a song for Marui. And about Marui and all the good points that made it impossible for Zaizen not to like him even if he was a little annoying. And egotistical. And well... it pointed out some of his flaws as well. But overall it was very... sweet.

Zaizen had clearly put a lot of effort and emotion into the song, probably triggered by the boyfriend announcement in the first place.

How could Marui be mad about his flaws being mentioned in the song when Zaizen sounded so fond of them? Marui was overwhelmed by the amount of affection packed into the song, and that was without taking into account that the music and composition was on point as always. Before the end of the song Marui has wrapped his arms around Zaizen’s neck, smiling like an idiot and thrilled out of his mind. “Sorry about being an annoying little shit. But I’m your annoying little shit, right?” Because that was the message Marui was taking away from this song.

Zaizen looked bashful but pleased as he wrapped his arms around Marui to hold onto him. "I guess that's how it is. I just wanted to tell you how I felt."

And music was just how he told people that stuff.

“You’re adorable, have I told you that? Because you are. Did that really only take you three days?” Actually, now that Marui looked closer at Zaizen… “Uh, did you sleep at all?”

Zaizen shook his head, continuing to hold onto Marui, maybe a little more for balance than strictly necessary before. His exhaustion was catching up with him.

"I had to finish it while I was feeling inspired. I can sleep later." Zaizen replied, yawning.

“Dude.” That drove home the intensity of Zaizen’s focus harder than anything else had so far. Suddenly Marui understood how much of a thing this was in a way that being locked out of the room hadn’t gotten through to him. “Later is now, come on. You look like you’re gonna pass out.” He placed the headphones around Zaizen’s neck, and started walking him to the dorms.

Zaizen nodded and followed sleepily, ready to crash now that he'd successfully delivered his song to Marui. "You'll stay with me while I sleep, right?"

He was allowed to be a little clingy now, right?

“Oh, so now you wanna spend time with me?” Marui was joking of course, and when they got to Zaizen’s room he showed no signs of leaving, stripping off his own pants and then Zaizen’s, and setting the headphones and music player aside so all Zaizen had to do was flop back on the bed and wait to get tucked in.

And flop back on the bed he did, before tugging Marui down on top of him to cuddle... something that was really only necessary for a brief period of time before he was out cold, but Zaizen wanted that time, damn it. He really liked Marui, and in his sleep deprived state he was a little better at showing it.
