LOG: Zaizen and Gakuto

Who: Gakuto and Zaizen
When: the 20th
Where: from the gym to Zaizen's room.
What: Gakuto discovers a talent and Zaizen makes a friend.

Gakuto had listened to Zaizen’s song and since it was actually a decent song, he decided to go-ahead and sing for Zaizen. He knew the other man worked out around noon, so he hung around the gym, waiting for Zaizen to show up.

Sure enough, come noon Zaizen was there in his workout clothes, ready for his daily exercise. Had to stay in shape, after all.

He didn't even seem to notice Gakuto as he started getting himself set up at one of the machines, earbuds firmly in his ears.

Gakuto snorted, amused that Zaizen hadn't even seen him. He headed over to the other man, waving a hand in his face.

Zaizen blinked, and pulled an ear bud out of one ear so that he could properly talk with Gakuto, since the man was cornering him like this.

"What's up? You ready to sing for me?"

Gakuto laughed. "Way to look like I'm bothering you." He grinned. "Yeah, I said I would. I've been practicing, even. You're lucky your song doesn't suck, otherwise I would have said no."

"None of my songs really suck. I don't post stuff I'm not happy with." Zaizen replied, not caring how stuck up that might sound. He did good work and he knew it, okay? "Your voice will be perfect for a cover of 5-20 minutes, though. Maybe some other songs too if you like it."

Gakuto did like the confidence. He wouldn't want to work with someone that wasn't confident. "It's a nice song. We'll see if I can do it justice before I commit to anything else."

"Thanks. I wrote it when Kenya-san was in school and I was long distance texting with him." Zaizen finally got down off the machine to talk to Gakuto properly. "Did you look up the PV for it? Zenzai-P on Nico."

Gakuto chuckled. "So you two have always had a thing for each other, huh? That's cute." He blinked at the name. "No, but did you say Zenzai-P?"

"Yeah, he's been my muse for a long time." Zaizen replied without the faintest hint of irony. "And yeah, that's my username there.... zaizen... zenzai? Get it?"

Gakuto snorted. "No, I get that. Very punny. But no, I'm asking because I used to dance to your stuff all the time with my troop."

Zaizen raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you're into street dancing, huh? That's cool." He had no talent for that kind of thing. "Yeah, if you have a hobby like that you've probably heard my work before. It's pretty popular for stuff like that."

Gakuto nodded. "Yeah, your stuff is good to dance to." He smiled. "So, how do we do this?"

"I have the recording stuff set up back in my room, if you want to go there." Zaizen offered with a shrug. "My roommate should be working right now."

Gakuto nodded. "Sure…unless you want to keep working out first?"

Zaizen shrugged. "I can come back with Kenya-san later." He'd spend a lot of time battling off people who were oogling Kenya, but it was doable.

Gakuto shrugged. "Okay, then!" He was a bit jittery about all of this. He didn't normally sing in front of people aside from his best friends.

Zaizen grabbed his stuff and started to lead Gakuto towards his room. "I can leave when you sing, if it makes you feel better. I know some people get jittery about being listened to."

Gakuto shook his head. "No, it's fine. Better to have you there to make sure it's recording."

Zaizen shrugged, opening the door so they could enter his room. Once there he started setting up the recording equipment while Gakuto was getting comfortable in his room. "It will take a minute to set up, so rest or whatever. There's bottled water in the mini-fridge."

Gakuto looked around, pretty impressed with the whole place. He grabbed a bottle of water to prepare himself and sat down. "This is pretty impressive…"

Zaizen shrugged. "It's my secondary job so I spend a lot of time working in here."

He got everything set up and stood back to check things over once more before nodding for Gakuto to come sit in his office chair. "Put the headphones on and sing along to the music. I set up enough microphones to catch everything I need."

Gakuto put the headphones on and took one last sip of water. "Okay, ready when you are."

Zaizen hit the button to start recording and then started the track. There, nice and simple.

Gakuto closed his eyes and just started singing. It didn't take long for him to get comfortable and really get into the music.

Zaizen listened quietly through the end before stopping the recording and taking the headphones back for himself so that he could sync up the files for a rough playthrough.

He worked for about fifteen minutes without even acknowledging Gakuto, before handing the headphones back to Gakuto. "Have a listen."

Gakuto just practiced meditation while he waited. He put the headphones on and listened. "Wow, you really made me sound good."

Zaizen frowned. "I haven't done anything but sync you to the music. That's the rough track."

Gakuto blinked. "What? No way. Come on, you're messing with me."

Zaizen stared. "Do you know how long it takes to edit a track? That's all just you."

Gakuto was so out of touch with reality. It was kind of sad.

Gakuto frowned and leaned back in his chair. "What else am I good at that I was told I wasn't?" He pouted. "So…that's it?"

Zaizen nodded. "I'll take care of the mixing and let you know when I have finished the song for you to listen to. Then you can decide if you want me to post it or not."

Gakuto shrugged. "I mean, I know you make stuff that sounds good, you can go ahead and post."

Zaizen nodded. "Sure. I'll let you know when it's finished, then."

"Okay!" Gakuto smiled. "Um…are there any other songs you want me to sing…?" He asked bashfully.

Zaizen nodded. "I've got other songs you can sing. Listen to my discography and choose some."

Gakuto nodded. "Okay. That was kind of fun, so…"

Zaizen nodded his head. "So sing for me again. I like your voice, so I'm down for it." He paused. "We can be friends or something."

Gakuto blushed. "Dude, that's way too blunt…but okay." More friends was always a good thing. "...Do you wanna work out together sometimes?"

Zaizen nodded. "A workout partner wouldn't be a bad thing... I don’t think I'd be left in the dust by you like I am with Kenya-san, either."

"Are you sure your boyfriend isn't super human?" Gakuto laughed. "But yeah, I get that. It'll be nice to workout with someone who has a good vibe."

Zaizen cracked a smile. "He might be. Have you ever seen him run? Like, really run? It's impressive." But it made working out with him a pain. "And you have a good vibe too. I like it."

"Not really, but I've seen him messing around and that's already impressive enough." Gakuto was pretty happy with that. "Cool, so noon for working out? I can do that."

Zaizen nodded. "I'll be there... you have a good day, okay? Thanks for singing for me, you're really talented."

Gakuto got really flustered at that. "It's not a big deal. Don't be sappy about it. I'll see you later." And then he made a break for it because what the fuck was with the random compliment.
